Why did CFMOTO choose this Engine?
The 272MQ engine boasts a 270 crankshaft imitating the sound and feel of a 90 V-twin. In contrast to the 360 and 180 parallel twin variants, the 270 crank provides a striking compromise between rocking couple and inertial forces with better primary balance than the 360 and a lower rocking couple than the 180.

So what does that mean?

Regarding real-world rider feeling, a 270crankshaft-equipped parallel-twin engine has power delivery characteristics like a 90 V-twin engine. This means maximum power and torque output is produced lower in the mid RPM range instead of in the high RPM range like a 180 crankshaft equivalent. This translates to a more eager and responsive ride, especially around town. Additionally, the exhaust note of a 270 parallel twin is thumpier, sounding remarkably like a regular V-twin engine, as well.
